In 1953, Alice Ainsley is in a loveless marriage with Albert, a high-ranking British diplomat in Paris. She attends her first fashion show, and soon she is wearing Dior to host parties at the residence, like the one where she meets Antoine du Parcq. Soon Antoine and Alice are embroiled in an affair, but she can't keep anything hidden from Albert, even with the help of her beloved maid, Anne.
