Then Charmaine's son, police officer Josh, brings in pro catcher-turned-park ranger Max Alverez to help with the investigation, and awkward Lizzie is in trouble. Max is smart and handsome, and the only thing she loves the way she loves romance novels is baseball. With the help of Brody's dog, Violet, Lizzie works to keep the investigation clear of Charmaine while she helps Max follow up on the other suspects, mainly the lovesick librarian and a string of other women Brody dated, most of whom have secrets. Granger's first mystery features a small, gossipy town; an animal sidekick;, and a hint of romance that will delight cozy readers.
